Tax codes

One of the primary differences in Fishbowl Canada is the handling of tax codes. Listed below are the ways that tax codes are handled in Fishbowl Canada.

  • QuickBooks tax codes can be imported into Fishbowl Canada in the Icon.Accounting Integration.png Accounting Integration module.
  • Some tax codes are a combination of tax rates. For example, HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) is used in some provinces to combine the federal GST rate with the provincial tax rate. When exported to QuickBooks, these combined rates will be split back into their separate components.
  • Tax codes can also be modified and created in the Icon.Tax Rate.png Tax Rate module.

  • Tax codes are supported in the Icon.Sales Order.png Sales Order module, the Icon.Purchase Order.png Purchase Order module, and in Fishbowl Checkout. Tax codes can be set per order or per line item.
  • To set the tax code of all line items, click the Tax Code field at the bottom of the order and select the appropriate tax code from the dropdown.

  • For Plugins, some international tax options are also available in the Tax Settings section of the Order Import tab.
