- To create a new tax rate, click the

- Rate/Amount - The percent or dollar amount of each tax rate.
- Date Created - The month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) that each tax rate was created.

The action bar in the main section of the Tax Rates module contains two buttons:
- More - Click Change Dates to bring up two options you can change the date in the header to:
- Date Created - A permanent marker that denotes when a tax rate was first saved and added to the system.
- Date Last Modified - A changeable marker that denotes the most-recent date that a tax rate was edited by a user.
- ADD NEW - Launch the New Tax Rate page to create a new one.
How to add a new tax rate
When you click the ADD NEW button in the action bar of the Tax Rates module, it brings up the New Tax Rate page. There are four fields to fill out on this page. All of these fields are required to be filled out before you can successfully click the SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE button to add the tax rate to the list of available tax rates.
These fields are:
- Name* - A textbox to enter an identifying name for the new tax rate. This can be used to explain its purpose and describe its contents.
- Code* - A textbox to enter an abbreviated form of the tax rate’s Name.
- Vendor* - A dropdown menu to select the tax agency that will be associated with the tax rate.
- Amount* - A textbox to enter the tax rate. It lets you choose to apply either a percent or monetary amount.
As noted above, when you have filled out all four of these fields, you are able to save the tax rate. If anything is missing, you will receive an error message.
Once you successfully save the tax rate, it will appear on the list to the left and on the main section of the Tax Rates module. And you will be able to use it in the Customers, Items, Sales Orders, Vendors modules and elsewhere.
How to delete a tax rate
You can’t delete a tax rate from the main section of the Tax Rates module. To do this, you will have to click a tax rate’s line item. Then the Edit Tax Rate page will appear. It is exactly like the New Tax Rate page except that there is a DELETE button in the action bar to the right of the SAVE AND CLOSE button.
When you click the DELETE button, a popup will appear asking if you really want to proceed. Click the red DELETE button on the bottom-right of the popup. If the tax rate isn’t being used anywhere in Fishbowl Drive it will be deleted and removed from the list. However, if it is being used in even a single customer, sales order, anything else, it will give you an error message. You won’t be able to delete it unless you change that.
