FBO Customers 1.png

  • The Customers module allows customer details and addresses to be entered and edited.
  • To create a new customer, click the FBO New Icon Button.png New button. Each existing customer is displayed in the search area on the left.

Main section

The first time you go to the Customers module, it will likely be empty. But you will need to add customers to this module in order to place them on sales orders and purchase orders. There are a few ways to do this:

  1. You can manually create a customer in the Sales Orders module in the General tab as you create a sales order.
  2. You can manually add customers one by one in the Customers module by clicking the ADD NEW button.
  3. You can import many customers at the same time via a CSV file by first clicking the More Icon Button.png More button and selecting Import Customers.

We cover how to create a customer in the Sales Orders module in the article for that module. We will explain how to add customers the two other ways in this article.

Customers module - Main page.png

You will see the following headers at the top of the main page of the Customers module:

  • Select All - This checkbox allows you to select or unselect all customers listed on the page.
  • Name - The name (usually first and last name) of a customer.
  • Sales Representative - The sales representative at your company who is responsible for a customer.
  • Phone - A customer’s main phone number.
  • Email - A customer’s main email address.
  • Date Created - The month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) a customer was created.
  • Date Last Modified - The month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) a customer was most recently updated and saved by a user.
  • Delete Customer - The More Icon Button.png More button on the right of a customer gives you the option to delete that customer. A popup will appear when you click the Delete Customer button, and you’ll need to click the red DELETE button to complete this process.

Action bar in the main section

Customers module - Action bar.png

You will see the following options in the action bar at the top of the main Customers module page. When you click the checkbox on the left of at least one customer, the DELETE button will also appear:

  • More - This gives you the option to view the Customer History report, export/import CSV files, create custom fields, and change dates.
  • DELETE - This opens a popup for you to delete the selected customer(s) by clicking the red DELETE button on the bottom-right of the popup.
  • ADD NEW - This opens a window to enable you to create a new customer.

We’ll cover the features contained in the More Icon Button.png More button later on in this article. For now, we’ll talk about how to manually create a new customer.

How to create a customer

To create a customer, click the ADD NEW button. It will shrink the list of customers to a small window on the left, and the larger section on the right is where you can add information about the new customer. This information is separated into four tabs:

At the top of each of these tabs is an action bar containing the following buttons:

  • SAVE - This saves the customer and lets you stay and keep working on it. If a field is missing or needs to be fixed, clicking this button will take you to the tab where the error is. And it won’t save until that field is filled with the correct information.
  • SAVE AND CLOSE - This saves the customer and takes you to the main Customers module page. Just like the SAVE button, if a field is missing or needs to be fixed, clicking this button will take you to the tab where the error is. And it won’t save and close until that field is filled with the correct information.
  • DELETE - This opens a popup for you to delete the selected customer(s) by clicking the red DELETE button on the bottom-right of the popup.

General tab

Customers module - General tab.png

The following fields can be filled in the General tab when creating a new customer. Required fields are marked by an asterisk. They are separated into the following sections:

  • Details
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Address
  • Shipping
  • Accounting
  • Currency
  • Parent Customer
  • Miscellaneous
  • Custom Fields

Details

This is the only section on the General tab that has required fields. They are marked by an asterisk:

  • Name* - A textbox to enter the customer’s name. It can be a business name, individual’s first and last name, or any other type of name. The character limit is 255.
  • Payment Terms* - A dropdown menu to select the timeframe in which the customer is expected to pay for orders they place with you. You can’t create new payment terms from here. To do that, you’ll need to go to the Payment Terms module under the Setup module group.
  • Sales Representative - A dropdown menu to select the sales rep who will be associated with the customer.

Phone

  • Phone - A textbox to enter the customer’s main phone number.
  • Mobile - A textbox to enter the customer’s mobile phone number.
  • Fax - A textbox to enter the customer’s fax number.

Email

  • Email - A textbox to enter the customer’s email address.
  • CC - A textbox to enter an email address to carbon copy when contacting the customer.
  • BCC - A textbox to enter an email address to blind carbon copy when contacting the customer.

Address

  • Default Billing Address - A dropdown menu to select a billing address to use for the customer. You can create a new billing address by entering a nickname for the address into the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. The New Address wizard will appear, and you can fill out all the fields in that wizard to add a new address to the customer. The nickname you entered will appear in the Address Nickname field.
  • Default Shipping Address - A dropdown menu to select a shipping address to use for the customer. Just like the Default Billing Address, you can create a new one by entering a nickname for the address into the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. The New Address wizard will appear, and you can fill out all the fields in that wizard to add a new address to the customer. The nickname you entered will appear in the Address Nickname field.

Shipping

  • Carrier - A dropdown menu to select a carrier from the Carriers module to deliver the shipment(s). You can’t create a new carrier from here. To do that, you’ll need to go to the Carriers module under the Setup module group.
  • Service - A dropdown menu to select one of the delivery services provided by the carrier you selected. You can’t create a new carrier service from here. To do that, you’ll need to go to the Carriers module under the Setup module group.
  • Order Priority - A dropdown menu to assign a default level of importance or urgency to the customer’s shipments. This priority will automatically populate on orders the customer is on, but you can still adjust it each time. There are five priorities you can choose from:
    • Highest
    • High
    • Normal
    • Low
    • Lowest

Accounting

  • Tax Exempt - A checkbox to mark the customer as exempt from being charged taxes on sales orders.
  • Tax Exempt Number - A textbox to enter the customer’s Tax Exempt Number provided by the IRS.
  • Sales Tax - A dropdown menu to select a tax to apply to the customer’s sales orders. You can create a new one by entering a name for the tax into the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. The New Tax Rate wizard will appear, and you can fill out all the fields in that wizard to add a new sales tax to the customer. The name you entered will appear in the Name field.
  • Class - A dropdown menu to select a class from the list you created in the Classes module to categorize the customer’s transactions. You can create a new one by entering a name for the class into the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. The New Class wizard will appear, and the name you entered will appear in it. That’s the only field to fill out.

Currency

  • Currency - A dropdown menu to select a currency from the Currency module to use as the default one for the customer. Once a transaction is processed involving this customer, this field will no longer be able to be changed.
  • Rate - A textbox to edit the exchange rate of the customer’s currency into your home currency. Unlike the Currency field above, the Rate field can be changed at any time, and it won't affect the default rate in the Currency module. You can click the Reset button to revert this field back to the default rate.

Parent Customer

  • Parent Customer - A dropdown menu to select a parent customer the new customer will be housed under, if applicable.
  • Phone - The parent customer’s phone number. This can’t be changed from here. It can only be changed on the parent customer’s page within the Customers module.
  • Email - The parent customer’s email address. This can’t be changed from here. It can only be changed on the parent customer’s page within the Customers module.

Miscellaneous

  • URL - A textbox to enter the customer’s website address. Be sure to type https:// or http:// at the start of the URL. If you don’t do that, you won’t be able to save the customer. Or you can leave it blank, and it won’t be a problem.
  • Notes - A textbox to enter information about the customer. The character limit is 4,000.
  • Alert Notes - A textbox to enter a message that pops up when the customer is added to an order. The character limit is 255.
  • Tags - A dropdown menu to select tags to categorize the customer’s transactions. You can create a new one by entering a name for the tag into the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. No wizard pops up. The text you typed just appears as a new tag.
  • Other - A textbox to enter other information or notes about the customer. The character limit is 255.

Custom Fields

If you have created any custom fields, they will appear below all of the other fields on the General tab of a customer. We noted in the Details section above that that was the only section that has required fields on the General tab. However, it is possible to make custom fields that are required. So it’s more appropriate to say that the Details section is the only one that has automatically required fields.

Up to three custom fields will appear automatically. If you have more than that, you can click the SHOW MORE button to display all of them. The order they appear in will depend on what you set in the Custom Fields wizard of the Customers module. To hide the extra custom fields, click HIDE FIELDS, and then only the first three will be visible again.

Addresses tab

Customers module - Addresses tab.png

The Addresses tab enables you to add a location to the customer. You can also do that within the General tab in the Address section above. But this tab is entirely dedicated to the customer’s addresses and contact information. At the top of the Addresses tab are the following buttons:

  • DELETE - Clicking this instantly deletes the selected address(es). No popup appears asking if you’re sure you want to do that. It just deletes the address(es). Bear this in mind before clicking this button.
  • ADD - Clicking this opens the New Address wizard to add a new address to the customer.

Under those buttons are the following column headers:

  • Select All - A checkbox that allows you to select or unselect all addresses listed on the page.
  • Name - The nickname of the customer’s address.
  • City - The city the customer’s address is located in.
  • ZIP - The ZIP code of the customer’s address.
  • Delete Address - The More Icon Button.png More button gives you the option to delete the address on a specific line. When you click the Delete Address option, no popup appears asking if you’re sure you want to do that. It just deletes the address. Bear this in mind before clicking it.

You can save multiple addresses for the customer in this tab. But you will only be able to use one Default Billing Address and one Default Shipping Address for the customer in the General tab.

ADD button

Customers module - Addresses tab - New Address.png

When you click the ADD button in the Addresses tab, the New Address wizard pops up. It has the following fields to fill out. Required fields are marked by an asterisk:

  • Address Nickname* - A textbox to enter the name the customer’s address will be known by. This is different than the street address. For example, it can be Home, Office, Main Warehouse, or another descriptive term.
  • Attention - A textbox to enter the name of the individual who will be alerted about the customer being added to a sales order.
  • Company Name - A textbox to enter the name of the company the customer works for, if applicable.
  • Street* - A textbox to enter the customer’s street address.
  • Street 2 - A textbox to enter secondary address information, such as apartment, suite, or room number.
  • City* - A textbox to enter the city the customer is located in.
  • State* - A dropdown menu to select the state/territory the customer is located in.
  • ZIP* - A textbox to enter the customer’s ZIP code.
  • Country* - A dropdown menu to select the state the customer is located in.
  • Residential - A checkbox to mark the customer’s address as a dwelling place rather than a business.
  • Default Billing address - A checkbox to use the customer’s address for billing purposes.
  • Default Shipping address - A checkbox to use the customer’s address for shipping purposes.
Contacts

Under the address fields in the New Address wizard there is a Contacts section to add the customer’s contact information. Click Add New Contact, and the following fields will appear. Required fields are marked by an asterisk:

  • Name* - A textbox to enter a name for the contact method.
  • Value* - A textbox to enter a phone number, email address, or other means of contacting the customer.
  • Type* - A dropdown menu to select a contact method for the customer. You can choose one of the following types:
    • Email
    • Mobile
    • Office
    • Fax
    • Other
  • Default - A checkbox to make a certain contact method the default one for the customer.
  • Delete - A button that instantly deletes the contact on a specific line.

You can add as many contacts as you like, and you can add multiple contact methods for an individual by clicking Add New Contact more than once.

When you’re done adding address and contact information, click the blue ADD button on the bottom-right of the wizard. That will generate a new address on the Addresses tab. You can edit an existing address by clicking anywhere on its line in this tab. That will pull up the Edit Address wizard, which is identical to the New Address wizard.

Carrier Accounts tab

In the Purchase label wizard within the Shipping module, you may have noticed a field entitled Carrier Account. The Carrier Account tab in the Customers module is basically the same as that. The main difference is that this is the place where the information about a customer’s carrier account is recorded for use in a shipment.

This information is presented under the following column headers:

  • Select All - This allows you to select or unselect all carriers below.
  • Name - The nickname of the customer’s carrier.
  • Carrier - The name of the customer’s carrier.
  • Account Number - The customer’s account number with the carrier.
  • Billing Type - The individual who is responsible for paying shipping bills.
  • Country - The country that shipping bills are sent to.
  • Default - The default carrier for shipping items to the customer. Clicking this opens the Edit Carrier Account wizard where you can click the Default checkbox to make it the customer’s default carrier account.

ADD button

Customers module - Carrier Accounts tab - New Carrier Account.png

In the Shipping module, you had to enter text into the Carrier Account field to open the New Carrier Account wizard. However, in the Carrier Account tab in the Customers module, all you have to do is click the ADD button on the top-right to open that same wizard. Once you do that, you’ll need to fill in the following fields. They are all required fields, except for the Default checkbox:

  • Name - A textbox to enter the name of the customer’s carrier.
  • Default - A checkbox to mark the default carrier for shipping items to the customer.
  • Carrier - A dropdown menu to select the customer’s carrier.
  • Account Number - A textbox to enter the customer’s account number with the carrier.
  • Billing Type - A dropdown menu to select the individual who is responsible for paying shipping bills. There are two options:
    • RECIPIENT
    • THIRD PARTY
  • Billing ZIP - A textbox to enter the ZIP code of the customer’s address.
  • Country - A dropdown menu to select the country that shipping bills are sent to.

When you’re done adding information about the customer’s carrier account, click the blue ADD button on the bottom-right of the wizard. That will generate a new carrier account on the Carrier Accounts tab. You can edit an existing account by clicking anywhere on its line in this tab. That will pull up the Edit Carrier Account wizard, which is identical to the New Carrier Account wizard.

Items tab

Customers module - Items tab.png

If a customer uses a different name for a sale item than the Fishbowl sale item name, that information can be stored in the Items tab. The information in this tab is contained under the following column headers:

  • Sale Item - The name of the sale item in Fishbowl Drive.
  • Customer Sale Item Name - The name that the customer calls the sale item.
  • Last Price USD - The most-recent price saved for the customer sale item. When a sales order with this sale item is fulfilled, this number will be automatically updated to reflect the price used for it in that order.
  • Last Date - The most-recent month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) that a sales order with the customer sale item was fulfilled.

To delete a sale item from this list, click the checkbox next to it, then click the DELETE button in the action bar.

ADD NEW button

Customers module - Items tab - New Customer Item.png

To create a new customer item, click the ADD NEW button in the action bar of the Items tab. There are three fields (all required) to enter information into:

  • Sale Item - A dropdown menu to select an existing sale item. You can also search for a specific sale item by entering its name into this field. You can also create a new sale item by entering text into this field, clicking the + Add option at the bottom, and filling out the rest of the information in the New Item wizard.
  • Price USD - A textbox that automatically populates with the price (in U.S. dollars) of the sale item in Fishbowl Drive. You can update it to any other number if desired, and it won’t affect the sale item’s price in the Items module.
  • Customer Item Name - A textbox that automatically populates with the text in the Sale Item field. This enables you to change it to what the customer calls the sale item.

Documents tab

Customers module - Documents tab.png

To add files to a customer, click the Documents tab, and then click the UPLOAD button on the top-right. The Upload Documents wizard will appear. You can either drag and drop files into the window, or you can click the BROWSE button on the bottom-left to select files to add and then click the ADD button.

Add new documents and other files

Given the name of this tab, everything seems to be pointing toward only being able to add Word files. But the fact is that you can add virtually any file type in here, not just documents. In addition to DOC and DOCX files, you’ll find that JPG, GIF, PDF, XLSX, PPTX, and many other file types are permissible.

Once you add a file, you won’t be able to edit it. All you can do is download a copy of it. If you want to edit a file, you’ll need to download it, edit it, and upload the revised version.

To delete a file, click the trashcan icon with an X in it to the right of the file, and then click DELETE in the popup window.

Once you’ve made a change, whether adding or deleting a file, be sure to click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE to preserve your work.

More button in the main section

Customers module - More button.png

On the top-right of the main section of the Customers module, to the left of the ADD NEW button on the action bar, you will see a More Icon Button.png More button. Click it to open a dropdown menu containing the following options:

  • Show Report
  • Export Customers
  • Import Customers
  • Custom Fields
  • Change Dates

You will find explanations of everything contained in these options below.

Customer History report

Clicking Show Report in the main section of the Customers module will bring up the Customer History report. This report initially has the following sections and column headers:

  • Sale Item - The name of each sale item sold to a customer. This column header will appear by default or if you select Customer in the Order By field.
  • Customer - The name of the customer who purchased a particular item on a sales order. This column header will appear if you select Sale Item in the Order By field.
  • Description - The description of the sale item. This column header will appear by default or if you select Customer in the Order By field.
  • SO # - The sales order number the sale item is contained in.
  • Shipped - The month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) the item was shipped. If the item hasn’t been shipped yet, this will display its current status of Entered, Picked, etc.
  • Qty Shipped - The number of units of an item being shipped, along with their unit of measure.
  • Price - The price charged to the customer for each unit of an item.
  • Totals - Each customer’s total Quantity Shipped and Price paid for sale items. If you change the Order By field to Sale Item, the total will be for each sales order, not each customer.
  • Grand Total - All customers’ total Quantity Shipped and Price paid for sale items.

At the top of the report, you will see your company name followed by the Date Range the report includes. By default, you will be able to see all customers on the report. But you can narrow down the results to a single customer or sale item by using the Optional features on the right of the report.

Optional

These are the Optional fields that you can use to modify the report:

  • Customer - A dropdown menu to select a customer to include in the report. All other customers will be excluded if you fill this field with one. By default, all customers are included in the report. You can create a new customer by entering their name in the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. Then fill out the New Customer wizard that pops up.
  • Order By - A dropdown menu that enables you to group the information in this report by one of two criteria:
    • Sale Item - Group all sales orders under each sale item.
    • Customer - Group all sales orders under each customer. This is the default choice if you leave this field empty.
  • Sales Representative - A dropdown menu that enables you to only display sales orders that were created by a specific sales rep within your organization. You can’t create a new sales rep from here, nor can you select more than one.
  • Location - A dropdown menu that shows a list of all of the locations you have created in the Locations module under the Setup module group. Select one to see all sales orders connected to that location and no other. You can create a new location by entering a name for the location in the textbox and hitting Enter or clicking the + Add option. Then fill out the New Location wizard that pops up.
  • Report Title - A textbox to enter the title of the report, which will appear at the top in between your company name and the Date Range.
  • Sale Item - A dropdown menu to select a sale item from the list of ones you created in the Items module under the Materials module group. You can select a sale item to see all sales orders containing it. You can’t create a new sale item from here, nor can you select more than one.
  • Sales Order Number - A dropdown menu to select a sales order from the list of ones that are in the Sales Orders module. All other sales orders will be excluded if you fill this field with one.
  • Date Range - Clicking this textbox brings up a calendar to select a start and end date for the report. In addition, you can select one of these options on the right of the calendar:
    • Today
    • Yesterday
    • This Week
    • Last Week
    • Last 7 Days
    • This Month
    • Last Month
  • Include Credit Return Items - A checkbox that enables items being returned from customers or to vendors to be included in this report.
  • Include Misc Sale Items - A checkbox that enables Miscellaneous Sale Items to be included in this report.
  • Include Misc Credit Items - A checkbox that enables Miscellaneous Items being returned from customers to be included in this report.

To select all of the status fields at once, click the Select All Optional checkbox. The Select All Optional checkbox won’t affect any of the dropdown menus or textboxes you see under the Optional header. Those will have to be updated manually. To search for an option in a dropdown menu, click in that field and begin entering text. It will show all options that have that text in them.

Create a new preset

To apply your changes and see what they will look like in the report, click the GENERATE REPORT button on the bottom-right.

To save a revised report’s settings for easy access in the future, click the CREATE NEW PRESET button on the top-right of the wizard. A popup will appear asking for just one thing: Preset Name. Add any name you like. For example, it can be the name of the customer and/or date range the report includes. Then click the SAVE button. You can either do this before you begin making changes to the report, or you can do it at the end. If you want to make additional changes to the report, click the UPDATE button. The CREATE NEW PRESET button changes to UPDATE when you’re in a report preset.

Additional presets

To create another report preset, first click the X to the right of the dropdown menu containing the name of the current preset. Then you can go through the same steps above to create a new preset.

The first report preset you create will automatically be the default. Once it’s saved, there will be a Default checkbox option above the UPDATE button.

If this isn’t the first time you’ve opened this wizard, and you previously created at least one preset, you will see the default report preset first thing. And you will be able to see all of the report presets you have saved listed in the dropdown menu on the top-right.

To set a new default report preset, click the Default checkbox in it and click the UPDATE button. If you uncheck the Default checkbox on the default report preset and click the UPDATE button, you’ll receive an error message. That’s because there usually has to be a default. However, if you delete the default report preset, there won’t be a default report, and it will show all customers and sale items when you click the REPORT button. That is, until you pick a report preset as the default or create a new one.

To delete a report preset, first click the trashcan icon next to the UPDATE button. Then click the red DELETE button in the message that pops up.

Report options

The following buttons are at the top of the Customer History report to allow you to make adjustments and send the report to other people. Tooltips appear when you mouse over these buttons for a couple seconds. They succinctly explain what each one does.

  • Zoom Out - This makes the text in the report appear smaller.
  • Reset - This restores the report to its original size.
  • Zoom In - This makes the text in the report appear larger.
  • Next Page - If a report has multiple pages, this button enables you to move to the next page.
  • Previous Page - If a report has multiple pages, this button enables you to move to the previous page.
  • Download XLSX File - This enables you to download the report into an XLSX file, which you can open in Excel.
  • Download PDF - This enables you to download a report into a PDF, which you can open with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Print Report - This enables you to print a hard copy of a report.
  • E-mail Report - This enables you to email the report to as many recipients as you like. It opens a popup where you can add email addresses in the To, Cc, and Bcc textboxes. Then you can add a subject and message. Click the SEND button to send the email with the report as a PDF attachment. If the recipient doesn’t receive the email, they will need to check their junk folder and add fishbowl@fishbowlonline.com to their address book so that future emails aren’t marked as spam.
  • Expand - This expands the report to the full size of your browser window. When you click this button, it changes to a Contract button, which you can click to return the report to its previous smaller size.

Import customers

Clicking the Import Customers button allows you to import customers and their associated data into your Fishbowl Drive database. To get an import template, click Export Customers and download a CSV file. It will have all of the columns formatted correctly. You just have to populate them with your own information.

If the import of at least one customer fails, you will receive an error message. Then you can go to the Downloads page and download a CSV file containing the customer(s) that failed to be imported. In the first column of the spreadsheet, it will tell you where the error occurred. That way, you can fix it and try to import the revised file again.

All of your imported and exported files will be listed by date in the History column on the right side of the Downloads page. You can download your exported files from the column on the left marked Downloads. Imports that are successful will be marked as Completed in the History column, and they won’t be able to be downloaded. But imports that fail (in full or in part) will be marked as Failed, and they can be downloaded.

To import customers from a spreadsheet or CSV file, click the More Icon Button.png More button at the top of the customer list and choose Import Customers.

To create a template file with the correct column headers, click Export Customers. For a step-by-step tutorial on working with CSV files, check out the CSV video here.

There are currently 40 columns to fill out in the Import Customers CSV file. And 16 of them are required, as denoted by an asterisk. The columns are all listed below, along with an explanation of what they entail:

  • Customer-Name* - Name of a customer (e.g., Alice Nelson).

If you have created custom fields in this module, they will appear to the right of the main column headers on the spreadsheet.

Export customers

Clicking the Export Customers button will generate a CSV file you can access from the Downloads section. To see your downloads, click your user profile icon on the top-right of the interface, and then click Downloads in the dropdown menu. The file name of each download will include the type of file it is and the date it was generated.

The Export file mirrors the Import one. Hence, you can download a CSV file by clicking this button, add your own information in it, and reuse it to import that information into your Fishbowl Drive database.

Custom fields

Clicking the Custom Fields option will bring up a wizard that allows you to add, edit, and delete custom fields on the General tab of a customer. The list will be blank at first, of course.

Customers module - Add Custom Field.png

To add a new custom field, click ADD FIELD on the top-right. Then enter a name and type for it. Your type options are:

  • Number - A textbox that only allows numeric characters to be typed into it.
  • Text - A textbox that allows alphanumeric characters to be entered.
  • Date - A field for adding dates in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY. A calendar option lets users select dates from a calendar if they prefer not to type them by hand.
  • Checkbox - A small box that can be checked or unchecked to indicate yes or no, respectively.
  • Single Choice - A dropdown menu of text options. If selected, this will ask you to enter at least one row to appear in the dropdown menu. Users can only select one of the options available.
  • Multiple Choice - A dropdown menu of text options. If selected, this will ask you to enter at least one row to appear in the dropdown menu. Users can select one or more of the options available.
  • URL - A textbox that lets you add a website address in relation to a customer.

When creating or editing a custom field, click the Required checkbox to make it a required field. Otherwise, it will be optional. Then click ADD to save it, or click CANCEL or the X on the top-right to get rid of it. If you’re editing an existing custom field, clicking CANCEL or the X won’t delete it but will simply return it to its original state. You can also click the Required toggle switch next to a custom field in the main wizard to turn that function on or off.

To delete a custom field, click the More Icon Button.png More button to the right of it in the Custom Fields wizard. Then select Delete from the dropdown menu. You can also select Edit or Duplicate from that menu.

Customers module - Order Custom Fields.png

To change the order of custom fields, click ORDER FIELDS to the left of ADD FIELD. Then select one of the custom fields and click the up or down arrow on the right to move it. You can do this to each custom field until they’re all in the order you want them to be in.

Only the first three custom fields will show up automatically in the General tab of a customer. Any others can be viewed after clicking the SHOW MORE button. Bear this in mind when creating and ordering them. Click the SAVE ORDER button to apply your changes to the wizard, and then click the SAVE button to apply those changes to the Customers module.

Change dates

At the top of the Customers module, you will see the following column headers:

  • Name
  • Sales Representative
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Date Created

You can click any of these headers to reorganize the rows under them. However, they are not all set in stone. For example, if you click Change Dates under the More Icon Button.png More button, you will find you have two options for the Date column:

  • Date Created - A permanent marker that denotes the month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) a customer was first saved.
  • Date Last Modified - A changeable marker that denotes the most recent month, day, and year (MM/DD/YYYY) a customer was updated and saved by a user.

You can pick whichever one will best help you organize the customers in the Customers module.
